Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili popularly known as Babu Owino appeared before a Kibera court on Thursday.

He was charged with causing grievous bodily harm and use of force during elections.

This led to his re-arrest moments after he was released by Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis on sh500, 000 bond.

He denied the two charges.

He was first arrested on Monday after targeting President Uhuru Kenyatta in his “”mtoto wa mbwa” remark.

He spent night two nights at Kilimani Police station and was charged with subversion and incitement.

Prosecution opposed he be released on bond citing that the charges are serious and if he is found guilty, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

But his lawyer Otiende Amollo countered this argument saying he is subject to be granted bond as enshrined in the Constitution.

“For purposes of this charge, the question of flight risk was addressed at length by chief magistrate Francis Andayi,” Otiende told the court as quoted by the Star.

His bond determination will be made today [Thursday] at 4pm.

In the earlier ruling by Andayi, he said opposing reasons for the MP not to be granted bail were not compelling.
