Briton arrested in Malindi for running over his wife with car

A British national has been arrested by police in Malindi for allegedly killing his wife in a road accident on Sunday along Thalathameli-Kaoyeni road.

Simon Harold, the proprietor of UK club in Malindi is reportedly said to have a road accident involving his vehicle and a boda boda carrying his wife Jacinta Njoki according to Malindi OCPD Matawa Muchangi.

The OCPD said the two were rushed to hospital after the incident but Njoki was pronounced dead on arrival to Tawfiq hospital.

The rider was in critical condition at the time.

“It is alleged that the man driving a Mitsubishi double cabin ran over the boda boda rider and the passenger who had fallen in a ditch beside the road at Kayoeni,” he said as quoted by Nairobi News.

Njoki is said to have quarreled with Harold at their farm and she refused to ride with him. She opted for a boda boda.

“They were both heading towards the same direction at UK club along Malindi-Kilifi highway and the husband is said to have been chasing the wife from behind when the incident occurred,” Muchangi added.

The Briton will be charged with dangerous driving and causing death.

“The Briton will be taken to court and charged with offence of dangerous driving causing death.”

Njoki’s body was taken to Star Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
