Kiambu County Women Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba has found herself on the firing line once again over an alleged post she made calling for the release of a rapist.

The radio journalist turned politician is alleged to have made the remarks on her facebook page calling for the release of a 43-year old man who defiled a 15-year old girl and got her pregnant.

This has once again sparked harsh reactions from her constituents some of whom are threatening to remove her from office for a second time.

According to the Star, Kiambu youth leader Peter Mwangi, said he will head to the courts to petition her removal from office because she is not fit to be a leader.

He termed the MP as “incompetent”.

On a popular facebook group, United States of Kiambu with about 200, 000 people, Wamuchomba was heavily trolled.

“We voted in a controversial woman. How do you expect a teenager to marry her rapist? I think mheshimiwa’s dark past is truly haunting her,” Antony Muhia lamented.

“The Woman Rep should protect the girl and baby. She should not throw her back to the hyena. We in the community will fight for that girl through many organisations,” Zipporah Wanjiru remarked.

But the fiery politician has come out stating that she at no one time made such a post or posted the photo of the young girl.

She blamed this attack on her “political foes” who she said are bent on tarnishing her name by all means.

However, even with this record straight, some of her constituents have not spared her their wrath.

The MP first stirred the waters weeks after she was elected Kiambu County Women Representative.

Even before she was sworn-in as an MP, she joined a battery of other MPs in pushing for higher pay, something that did not suit very well with Kiambu residents.

The MP agitated for higher pay stating: “Let us slash or raise salaries the right way. I want to be paid well. I want to be honoured for who I am.”

This drew widespread criticism with her constituent gathering signatures to remove her from office.

She was forced to eat a humble pie and apologized telling her constituents that she is ready to earn any amount set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
