President Uhuru Kenyatta’s first born son, Jomo, finally tied the knot with his fiancee Achola Ngobi in a colorful and exquisite white wedding a fortnight ago.
The invite-only ceremony was held at State House on April 8.
The two had their traditional ceremony known as Itara held in late 2016 at Uhuru’s rural home in Ichaweri, Gatundu South.
Achola was presented to her new mother-in-law, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta by her mother Ruth Omamo.
Achola was heartily welcomed to Kenyatta’s family by its members including Uhuru’s mother Mama Ngina Kenyatta who could not hide her joy in seeing her grandson finally get a wife.
“Now that my son has his own home it’s a sign we are ageing and we shall have to hand over some of the authority to the young people, but it comes with responsibilities,” Uhuru said in a brief speech according to the Star.

With all traditional formalities having been completed, a white wedding was the only thing remaining.
But the couple had to wait until Achola delivered a bouncing baby girl in November last year. Baby Wanjiru was delivered at the Aga Khan Hospital just days before Uhuru was sworn in for a second term in office.
Six months later, the white wedding went down at State House though it was covert in nature.
Guests invited were first asked to save April 8 as the date for the white wedding but a venue was not given.
“My invite requested that I save the date, April 8, for the wedding of the firstborn son of the Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta. It was a personal invite without the venue details,” intimated a source.
Later, a venue was communicated but asked to keep it mum.
“The guests went through a thorough security check before they could walk into the venue. No cell phones were allowed and no media was present either, apart from the official camera people.”
A few of Uhuru’s political allies, the couples close friends and relatives attended the royal wedding. Some few celebrities were also invited.
A reception followed thereafter at State House after Jomo and Achola took their vows.
