It was drama galore at State House Nakuru on Wednesday after a section of Kisii leaders literally scrambled for food.

The leaders were part of 15, 000 delegates from Kisii and Nyamira counties who had been invited by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.

Trouble started when one group went out looking for Chris Obure, former Kisii Senator.

Allegedly, he had been given their money for fare and lunch and he went missing as soon as the meeting was over.

Caterers hired to serve food at the event started cleaning the utensils which is when the group returned and demanded to have food.

“When they were told the food was finished, the angry and hungry lot descended on some of the caterers who scampered for safety,” said one of the Kisii leaders at the event according to the Star.

Others within the same group dished on the remaining lot with their bare hands, caring less what would be said of them.

But Obure trashed the allegation that he made away with money meant for the delegation.

“These are just lies. Those spreading such rumors are just crazy fellows who want the whole thing to be blown out of context,” said the former Kisii Senator.

“I have not taken anyone’s money. In fact, as we speak, I am still in Nakuru and can confirm that all the delegates were sorted out.”

The leaders had been invited by the President in a bid to solidify his support in the two regions ahead of repeat polls on October 17.
