A terror suspect who has been on Kenyan police radar escaped unnoticed to Yemen to join global terrorist group, ISIS.

Mohamed Shukri Abdiwahid Yerrow, according to police reports, arrived in Yemen two weeks ago.

According to the Standard, an officer privy to the probe on the suspect said he has a history of being engaged in several terror activities in the country.

The terror suspect is a medical doctor by profession. He was born in 1989 in Mandera and schooled at Gilgil Hills Academy and Sunshine Secondary School between 2005 and 2008.

On August 28, 2016, Shukri was arrested by Anti-Terror Police during a probe looking into an ISIS cell which was linked to  Ali Mohamed Abdi aka Abu Fidaa  who was reportedly said to be operating in Malindi.

He was however, released for lack of sufficient evidence.

Shukri is said to have inherited leadership of ISIS cell in Kenya from Abu Fidaa. He was tasked with recruiting youths especially those in the medical field.

Most of those he recruited left the country for Syria to join ISIS.

Shukri is said to have left for Yemen through Somalia.

Fidaa on the other hand was a medical intern at Wote Hospital in Makueni.

He was arrested on April 29, 2016 following suspicions he was a member of the ISIS which was involved in radicalization and recruitment of varsity students.

His arrest was also on tips that he was planning a large scale biological attack in Kenya using anthrax.

Shukri took over from Fidaa after his arrest, a dossier on his activities further indicates.

The Islamic State terror group is quite active in many places within the world. It has active cells in Libya, Puntland, Somalia. Yemen and Syria.
