Here’s what to expect in tonight’s Jubilee manifesto launch

Report by Pharis Kinyua- Jamhuri News

President Uhuru Kenyatta will today launch Jubilee manifesto at Kasarani Sports Complex at 7pm.

The event will be graced by his Deputy William Ruto and Cabinet members who will be part of a panel that will highlight Jubilee’s achievements in the last four years.

According to an insider within the party, Uhuru will not only launch the manifesto but will also expound more on his track record for the tenure he has been in office.

He will point out the achievements he has made as well as talk of projects that are ongoing.

However, Jubilee manifesto is anchored on seven pillars; some of which are carry-forwards from the 2013 manifesto while others are newly strategized.

In today’s launch, Jubilee manifesto will focus on rolling out free secondary education- a concept they are at loggerheads with NASA as it also made a similar pledge.

The manifesto also highlights the creation of employment for youths. It states that it will create 100, 000 jobs every year and it hopes to achieve this by enlisting the support of Private Sector where in partnership with government, paid internship for graduates will be offered for a period of between 12 and 18 months.

Thirdly, the manifesto delves in food security which Jubilee hopes to achieve through extensive irrigation of arable land in the country which has been left unattended for years.

Fourth, it will focus on infrastructure. Extension of the standard gauge railway, power connectivity to the interiors of the country; provide quality, affordable and sufficient urban housing are some of the aspects captured in this category.

Fifth, Jubilee will ensure Kenyans access better and quality healthcare. Mothers will get a free one-year NHIF cover together with their new borns. It will also have the elderly above 70 years put under government’s free medical cover.

Jubilee will also focus on security.

Lastly in the manifesto, is inclusion in governance where the party has vowed to slay corruption, ethnic inclusivity in governance among other aspects.

NASA is also expected to launch their manifesto soon in what is steadily turning to be a battle of “manifestos” between the two factions.
