High-profile accidents ‘Serial eyewitness’ Dennis Muigai Ngengi jailed

The man who claimed to have witnessed two high-profile accidents in Kenya late last year has been jailed.

Dennis Muigai Ngengi was charged with impersonating a captain of the KDF in 2015.

Ngengi pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one-and-half years in prison without an option of fine. He became made headlines when he addressed the media claiming to have witnessed the accident that claimed the life of Nyeri governor Wahome Gakuru. Ngengi had also claimed to have witnessed a helicopter crash that happened in Lake Nakuru claiming the lives of five people.

After investigations, security officers said that Ngengi had several other unresolved cases and that he was wanted by the police.

He Appeared before Kwale Resident Magistrate Patrick Wambugu who read his sentence on Friday.
