He is known for his tough political stands in a region where politics of division rule the day but Kieni MP Kanini Kega is the talk of the town.

Last weekend, his political elite friends raised Ksh5 million in a matter of minutes during his son’s initiation ceremony.

Imani Mathenge sat for his KCPE this year and managed to score an impressive 408 marks out of the possible 500 marks.

Besides, Kega had a reason to smile after Dennis Ngatia, a young boy he came through for after his KCPE in 2016 scored an A plain of 81 points in his KCSE.

Ngatia is now his adopted son and uses him as an example of how supporting the less fortunate in society can do in the future.

At his Narumoru home in Nyeri County, politicians arrived one by one among them Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

The ceremony was also attended by four Cabinet Secretaries, Governors and 15 MPs among other senior officials.

These are the people who raised ksh5 million in a blink of an eye, much to the surprise of many. Donations ranged from Ksh100,000 to Ksh1 million.

The money will now go to a fund through Imani Mathenge Foundation where needy children in Kieni will get assistance.

“Looking at how Dennis performed and where he came from, I cannot help but imagine how many other students we can help reach their potential by directly sponsoring their education,” the MP told Nation.
