The Late Jakoyo Midiwo’s family is suspecting foul play in the death of the former Gem MP and is now looking to hire a private investigator.

His brother Prof Jacob Midiwo says they cannot rule out foul play in the ex-legislators death.

The family said that they were shocked to learn of his death since he had no health issues by the time he travelled to Nairobi for his daughter’s graduation.

On Friday, Prof Jacob received the autopsy report of his brother at the Lee Funeral Home.

“We will know now what to do. Whether to engage somebody to investigate further,” he said.

He maintained that toxicological tests carried out on the deceased will take a maximum of three weeks before they are released.

Jacob added that the family would proceed with burial plans as the specimen required for the test had already been removed from the body.

Midiwo is said to have died of cardiac arrest on Monday at the Nairobi Hospital.

However, his family has cast aspersion on this theory saying that the police should investigate and give the real cause of death.

“Midiwo was fit, well and going about his activities. We cannot understand why and how he just fell ill and died,” the lawmaker’s brother said.

The family is also mourning Florence Aluodo, their sister, who succumbed to Covid-19 three days before Midiwo’s death.

Midiwo’s burial has been set for June 26, 2021.

Midiwo has asked opposition leader Raila Odinga who is his cousin to keep away from funerals saying they would attract huge crowds.
