A fourth patient in Kenya has tested positive for COVID-19.
This according to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe who on Tuesday confirmed the fourth case during a presser at Afya House.
The fourth patient is reportedly said to have travelled from London in the United Kingdon on March 8, 2020, and arrived in the country on March 9, 2020.
According to Mr Kagwe who is the chair of the National Emergency Response on Coronavirus, the test was done at the National Influenza Centre in Nairobi.
He added that the patient was admitted at a private facility at the time of the tests.
The National Influenza Centre has so far tested 111 samples for coronavirus.
The first case was reported on Friday last week while two more were confirmed on Sunday. The first patient is reportedly stable and receiving treatment at Mbagathi Hospital’s isolation ward while the other two patients have been isolated at Kenyatta National Hospital.
The Health CS has continued to urge Kenyans to observe “the highest levels of hygiene” saying he is encouraged by the steps “everyone one is making”.
He also asked Kenyans to make use of the toll-free line, 719 to report on coronavirus.
