Meet the two Kenyans who Matiang’i is all praises for

Two Kenyans have been the subject of debate for the past few days in online circles.

Lairuba Secondary school principal Along’o George Mutwiri and AP officer James Ngugi Chege are the heroes Kenyans are celebrating.

The two were captured wading through ranging floods, their shoes clasped tightly in their hands all in the effort to deliver examination papers to K.C.S.E candidates.

In the viral photos doing rounds in social media, the principal is pictured with examination papers tucked between his left arm while he carries his shoes with the right arm.

The AP officer tightly holds his boots on his left hands while a G3 rifle is held by his right arm. He is a few steps behind the principal.

Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i was the first Kenyan to laud the two gents for their selflessness.

In a tweet, he said: “I would like to recognise the Principal of Lairuba Day Sec Sch – Along’o George Mutwiri and Security Officer James Ngugi Chege for their dedication and service during Day 3 #KCSE2017. Along’o and Chege went above the call of duty to ensure safe delivery of examination papers.”

Further, Matiang’i said the two will receive an award to honor their commitment and humbleness.

“I have written to the Chief of Staff to ask that Principal Along’o and Officer Chege be considered for a Recognition Award. Once more I congratulate and recognise these officials for being exemplary citizens of our great nation KENYA #KCPE2017,” said the CS in another other tweet.

Besides the commitment, Mutwiri and Chege have been viewed as a unifying factor for Kenyans.

Kenyans on Twitter said that in spite of coming from different tribes, they appreciate the value of working together for the common good of the candidates.

The Pyratex Kydd tweeted: “I second you on that; we’ve lived in harmony together & nothing should make us view each other in any other different way apart from children of the same God.”

K said: “I see Alongo and Chege….meaning we can work together isipokuwa these politicians want us to think we are all enemies.”
