Firebrand politician Miguna Miguna has decried attempts by government to arrest him after his distinguished role on Tuesday during the unofficial swearing-in of Raila Odinga as the “People’s President”.

In his own words, Miguna said an “assassination squad” was all out for him.

In a series of text messages according to the Star, Miguna stated: “They have arrested me. They have bombed my house and broken everything. They are still here.”

“They are searching all rooms. It’s an assassination squad. I can’t speak. They are still here … looking for me,” he added.

He lives in Nairobi’s Runda suburb.

In one of the messages, he said he needed youths in his Runda home urgently, possibly to thwart the raid by the officers.

“My house is number 486 Runda Meadows. It’s urgent and dire.”

Moments later, police used force and got to his house where they arrested him.

His arrest comes two days after his colleague, Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang-who administered the oath to Raila was arrested and arraigned in court yesterday.

Kajwang was charged with being part of administering a false oath before Ngong Resident Magistrate Court.

He was released on Sh50, 000 bond.

Weeks before the unofficial swearing-in of Raila, Miguna declared himself the National Resistance Movement general.

He led an onslaught for the boycott of products manufactured by Haco Tiger Industries-a company owned by billionaire businessman Chris Kirubi.

Haco industries is well known for the manufacture of stationery such as rulers, Bic-brand pens, beauty products such as Miadi hair oil, Amara body lotion, cleaning detergents, pegs and shavers.

However, Miguna said the company was to a big extent involved in bungling the August 8 polls.

“We are encouraging our supporters not to buy products and services or shares from that company so that we send a clear message that impunity does not pay,” charged Miguna, a lawyer by profession.
