Maureen Mung’ohe Musungu, a Strathmore University Student who was missing for two weeks has been found safe and sound.
It has emerged that she had been locked up in an apartment by a male friend.
On the day she went missing, she left her Karen home to meet her friends in the CBD.
The third-year IT student was to hang out with her friends and get back home in the evening but she was a no-show.
Her phone went off and she could not be traced, the family got worried hence sought help through social media.
Posters with her photo circulated online in a bid to tracer her whereabouts even after telling her brother that she was in Utawala.
After her phone went off, she was reported missing at the Karen Police Station, OCS Purity Kobia confirmed.
On Friday, she told her father that she had been locked up at an apartment in Athi River with no access to a phone.
She said the man who had locked her up claimed that he lost the key to the house forcing them to stay indoors for two weeks.
“She said she had been locked up at a friend’s apartment in Athi River. According to her, the person claimed he lost his keys so they were forced to stay in the house for two weeks.” Maureen’s father said.
It is not yet clear how she ended up going to Athi River.
