It’s all systems go for the National Super Alliance (NASA) as it sets out on testing its parallel center less than 30 days to the polls.
Handlers of the center told the media that they will be transmitting mock results in real time on Thursday from 20 counties.
The test will incorporate adopt a polling station officials who will be in direct contact with other NASA officials stationed at the Centre’s headquarters in Nairobi.
A team of experts from the country and from Germany and South Africa will take NASA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka through how the technology works in relaying real time results just like anticipated on August 8.
The system, according to an insider, can withstand cyber attacks as NASA hired several leading hacking companies to gauge just how good their system is and hitherto, it is okay.
Head of NASA campaigns and Amani National Congress (ANC) party boss Musalia Mudavadi said all was ready in regard to the parallel tallying center.
“The center is as good as ready,” said Mudavadi.
The opposition has viewed the parallel tallying center as opposition’s saving grace from what they term as historical electoral malpractice in Kenya.
The concept has been borrowed from Ghana where it worked.
NASA chief and Presidential Candidate is on record stating that Ghana opened Africa’s eyes by proving that African’s have the power to slay electoral malpractices that more often than not, deny rightful candidates victory.
On question of its legality, Rail has vehemently defended setting up of the parallel tallying center stating that: “It is absolutely legal and it is the norm in all jurisdictions that value free, fair and credible elections.”
However, though the results will be trickling in real time, NASA’s hands have been tied as they cannot publicly announce the results.
IEBC is the only constitutional body mandated to announce the results.
