NASA to name more companies in boycott list

The National Super Alliance (NASA) is set to name more companies to be boycotted this week in its fight against electoral injustice.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) committee wing of the alliance according to NASA CEO Norman Magaya has identified more companies that worked with Jubilee in bungling August 8 polls.

“We’ll make it known this week. We are going to escalate very seriously. The list is growing,” Magaya told the Star.

Earlier, NASA called for a boycott on Bidco, Safaricom and Brookside products. This was before the October 26 repeat polls.

ODM director of elections and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed said the three companies were used as conduits of electoral injustice.

He said their resolve to push for democracy will not spare such entities that subvert the will of the people.

A week later, Raila Odinga led his supporters to an Airtel shop in the city where he migrated from Safaricom to the new telecommunications provider.

He said this was to lead by example.

Magaya added that so far, the boycott has worked wonders for the opposition.” The boycott is extremely effective. It has even surpassed our expectations.”

Speaking on the new companies to be named, ODM Chairman John Mbadi said that, “It’s about companies that played a major role in subverting the will of the people and democracy. There is an NRM committee. If they recommend others, we’ll include them.

“Just ask the distributors of those products or the firms — you’ll get the response,” he added in reference to questions if the boycott has hit the companies named.
