Nine Kenyan ladies have been selected in 2017 African Woman Awards. The nine are among 68 other ladies from Africa chosen from different classes that incorporate business, legislative issues, academic, media, sports science among others.
Amid the nominees include the 5,000m Olympic champion Vivian Cheruiyot, Oscar award winning actress Lupita Nyon’go, Tabitha Karanja, CEO of Keroche Breweries, Kenya Women Holding CEO Jennifer Riria and Gina Din-Kariuki.
The Awards, which started last year, celebrate outstanding African women who have made a positive impact and contributions in their communities, and Africa at large, in the past year.
Also making the list is Somalia’s first female presidential candidate Fadumo Dayib and Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
