NASA Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has assured his supporters that they will ultimately reach “Jerusalem”.

“The journey to Canaan is on course. It’s not an easy journey but it is very much on course,” he told congregants at All Saints Cathedral where he attended Sunday service together with other NASA co-principals.

Raila said he is optimistic the Supreme Court will respect the will of Kenyans in regard to a petition he filed challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win in the August 8 polls.

“We are on our way to the city of Jerusalem. We have already passed Jericho. We shall get to Jerusalem because no force will prevent the will of the people. Not even corruption, deceit and the misrule that has characterized the Jubilee government,” remarked Raila as the Star quotes.

Before the elections, Raila termed himself as the biblical Joshua who led the Israelites to the promised land of Canaan.

He said Kenya is wallowing in corruption, poverty, ethnicity and unemployment miseries and as “Joshua”, he will change all that when he take the country to Canaan.

The trial began today at 3pm.

During the pre-trial conference, NASA lawyers led by senior counsel James Orengo told the seven Judge bench led by the Chief Justice David Maraga and Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu that IEBC systems were compromised.

The NASA legal team also said that there was a deep variance between results published in IEBC’s online portal and Forms 34A, 34B and 34C.

Orengo termed IEBC’s process of elections as a fraud.

Raila also hit out at Nairobi County Police Commander Japeth Koome for rejecting their notification for prayers outside the Supreme Court.

NASA had requested they be allowed to hold prayers outside the precincts of the Supreme Court but Koome rejected their plea.

He said Koome should read and understand the law.

ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen in a statement said no law gives police power to turn down a vigil request.
