A bitter row could be simmering between Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and his Deputy Dr James Nyoro over running of the county.

Their sharp differences played out publicly during a Sunday church service attended by Deputy President William Ruto in Kabete

In his speech, the Governor took jibes at his deputy asserting that he is “making too much noise”.

Waititu took the congregants by surprise when he said as quoted by Daily Nation that, “Let me now introduce my deputy, who is Mr Nyoro, although he scolds me a lot.”

Nyoro was also taken aback by his boss’ pronouncement in public.

He told the DP who was present that internal wrangles in such a political setting are unavoidable but he never thought it would go public.

“Your Excellency the Deputy President, I never thought my governor would say that (about the differences).

Sometimes there will be small issues here and there, but it’s not a must they be made public, and so I never thought that he would go public with our small issues,” said Nyoro.

A source close to Deputy President William Ruto disclosed that after the service, he summoned the two leaders and cautioned them against fighting each other.

Ruto said it was a bad show coming from the President’s backyard.

“Before the Deputy President left, he called them and asked them what the issue was,” said the source.

Waititu promised that such would never happen again.

The duo vied under Team United for Kiambu that dislodged former Governor William Kabogo from power.

Others in the team are real estate magnate Rev David Kariuki Ngari alias Gakuyo, Eng. John Mugwe and Acquiline Njoki.

Nyoro before joining the 2017 race served as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s adviser on Agriculture.

He also served in the Bill Gates Foundation.

He had made a shot at Kiambu Governorship in 2013 but was trounced by Kabogo.
