The race to State House is beginning to gather heat as two other prominent political personalities have announced their candidature.

Besides Deputy President William Ruto whose eyes are fixed on the taking over from President Uhuru Kenyatta, in comes Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua, Wiper Party boss Kalonzo Musyoka and ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi.

On Wednesday Mutua said he be on the ballot come 2022.

“I’m planning to shock Kenya in the next few years,” he said on Wednesday according to the Star.

“I will show you what I’m capable of doing,” he added.

In his inauguration speech, the governor said he will be Kenya’s next President in 2022.

Mutua has been a rising political tide in Kenya’s political scene.

He was first elected as Machakos Governor in 2013 through Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party.

He later shipped out to form Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) which has gained popularity countrywide.

Mutua, a former government spokesman has charisma rising in Ukambani, a region sharply under focus as it has been under Kalonzo’s influence for donkey years.

The race is likely to be a tough one as Ruto is bracing up proactively now that he is serving his second term as Kenya’s DP.

Kalonzo on the other hand is reportedly said to be harbouring 2022 ambitions. So is Mudavadi.
