Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has thrown his hat once again into Kiambu gubernatorial race.

He has announced he will vie as an independent candidate for Kiambu governorship.

While addressing the press on Sunday, he said he arrived at the decision after wide deliberations from Kiambu electorate and his wife.

He said he will be on the ballot to face out with Jubilee nominee for governorship Ferdinand Waititu.

Kabogo lost to Waititu after garnering a paltry over 69,000 while Waititu managed 354, 601 votes.

He blamed his loss on powerful figures in Jubilee Party whom he declined to name.

He also said in his concession speech that some external forces do not want him to be in government thus worked towards rigging him out.

However, Waititu has urged Kiambu residents not to support anyone who is not in Jubilee Party.

In a rally he held today in Kiambu together with other Kiambu MPs who were nominated, he said that there is no room to support anyone not in Jubilee party.

Still on matters elections, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election bid has received a major boost after sections of politicians from Jubilee vote rich region of Mt Kenya pledged to support him.

The politicians lost in Jubilee primaries and are now running as independent candidates.

Through their new outfit, Association of Independent Candidates chaired by former Limuru MP who is vying for Kiambu Senator George Nyanja, the independent candidates are set to hold a delegates conference and endorse Uhuru.

“We are in full support of our President. We want to invite him for our delegate’s conference and endorse his reelection,” said Nyanja as told by the Star.

Notable political heavyweights who have pledged their support for Uhuru though they are independent candidates include Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, Joseph Ndathi (Kirinyaga), Kinuthia Mbugua (Nakuru), Ex-Nacada chairman John Mututho, Thuo Mathenge from Nyeri and former PS Thuita Mwangi.
