Supreme Court issues deadline for presidential results petition

The judicially has released a notice saying anyone seeking to challenge the General Election presidential results must do so before August 22, 2017.

If no petition is received within that timeline, then president-elect will be sworn in on August 29th, although the swearing-in date could change.

The judicially released a Gazette notice on the matter and also advertised it in local dailies.

In the event that there’s a petition challenging the presidential election results, the case must be decided within 14 days of filing as required by law.

Anyone seeking to challenge the validity of the presidential election results will be required to file the case at a cost of Sh.1 million.
