Uhuru names new Cabinet members, retains six

President Uhuru Kenyatta has re-appointed six of the current Cabinet Secretaries to his Cabinet in his second term.

In a state of the nation address from State House on Friday, Uhuru retained the following CS’

Dr Fred Matiang’i- Education

Henry Rotich- National Treasury

Najib Balala- Toursim

James Macharia-Transport

Charles Keter-Energy

Joe Mucheru-ICT

He nominated former Turkana Senator John Munyes, ex-governor Ukuru Yattani and and DPP Keriako Tobiko for CS position.

The names will be submitted to Parliament for vetting.

Those who have been fired include Mwangi Kiunjuri (Devolution), Hassan Wario (Sports), Aden Mohammed (Industrialization), Amb. Amina Mohammed (Foreign Affairs), Eugene Wamalwa (Water and Irrigation), Dan Kazungu (Mining),Phylis Kandie (Labour), Prof Judy Wakhungu (Environment), Rachel Omamo (Defense), Sicily Kariuki (Public Service), Willy Bett (Agriculture), Cleopa Mailu (Health) and Jacob Kaimenyi (Lands).

Other top officials within government who have been sacked include DCI boss Ndegwa Muhoro who has been replaced by George Kinoti who will hold the position on an acting capacity.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Joel Kitili and Samuel Arachi respectively have been sent home. They will be replaced by Edward Njoroge and Noor Gabow.

Former Nakuru Governor Kinuthia is now the new State House Comptroller, a position previously held by Laurence Lenayapa.

Lenyapa has been appointed ambassador to Netherlands.

Rift Valley regional coordinator Wanayama Musiambo has been promoted to the deputy Head of Public Service. Joseph Kinyua and Nzioka Waita have been retained.
