Uhuru unveils strategy to secure votes in October 26 repeat polls

Jubilee Party has devised a new plan in ensuring IEBC remains within the law in managing the transmission and tallying of results in the October 26 repeat elections.

The party has tapped on its high numbers in Parliament and will send out its 138 MPs as Chief agents within their constituencies.

Jubilee poll losers will be sent out in the same capacity in zones where Uhuru Kenyatta will have no representation according to Daily Nation.

This move was devised during a State House meeting with Jubilee MPs on Tuesday.

State House in communication stated that the meeting was aimed at “[discussing] measures to ensure that Kenyans are not subjected to the kind of mischief that was used to nullify the August 8 election.”

Deputy President William Ruto noted: “We are having a meeting with all our leaders to appraise ourselves on election management. We want to make sure the mischief and loopholes that were used in the nullification of a fairly won election do not happen again.”

As Chief agents for Uhuru in their constituencies, they will appoint agents, coordinate them, arrange for their training and supervise their work on Election Day.

In addition, each constituency will have an IT-guru and a lawyer to help the agents ensure everything with the IEBC goes on well.

In September 1 ruling, the Supreme court in a majority ruling nullified Uhuru’s victory citing irregularities and illegalities in the voting process.

Thus, the party feels inclusion of the MPs as chief agents will alleviate these trivialities that led to cancellation of Uhuru’s win in the August polls.

“The impression we got was that the heads of the party feel the election was nullified because of sabotage and funny grounds we should ensure the IEBC follows the law and those issues do not arise,” said a Jubilee MP who requested for anonymity according to Daily Nation.

Top on the table for Uhuru’s chief agents, will be scrutinize all Forms 34Bs and ensure they are properly filled and stamped.

Forms 34B will be filled at the constituency while Forms 34A will be filled at the polling stations.

This is besides a raft of amendments expected to be introduced to the electoral law before October 26.
