Safaricom denies claims of colluding with IEBC during Aug. 8 elections

Safaricom has responded to NASA’s allegations through its CEO Bob Collymore.

The company deemed the allegation factually incorrect and one that lacks any evidence to back it up.

NASA, in a statement on Tuesday, accused Safaricom of colluding with IEBC to rig the August 8 elections through vote transmission kits.

Collymore clarified Safaricom’s role in the past election as being mandated to merely transmit the results from the KIEMS kits to the IEBC servers.

Collymore said that contrary to what is alleged in the NASA statement, results from KIEMS kits in Safaricom zones were transmitted to the servers in accordance with the contract with the IEBC and that the results are on the IEBC web portal.

He also denied any wrongdoing by Safaricom, terming the statements as reckless and unnecessary, adding that the company is ready to face any probe or private investigations on the matter.
