What next for top Police bosses laid down in Uhuru’s shake-up?

Immediate former Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) boss Ndegwa Muhoro is among powerful state officers who have been affected by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s shake-up.

Muhoro is one of the longest serving DCI heads in the country.

He was appointed in 2010 by retired President Mwai Kibaki, just before the promulgation of the new Constitution.

In Uhuru’s new line-up unveiled on Friday, Muhoro has been replaced by George Kinoti.

Kinoti is a former Inspector General of Police. He was later appointed as the National Police Spokesperson, a position he served until 2014.

He was later moved to Central Bank where he was an assistant director in charge of security.

Muhoro has long-served in the forces which he joined in 1991.

Before he was appointed the DCI boss, he was the Commandant of the Kenya Police Staff College in Loresho.

He also served at the Police Air Wing, the Kiganjo Police Training College and with a UN peacekeeping mission in Sierra Leone.

Besides being a top notch officer in the Police department, he is well educated. He has a Masters degree in international studies from Moi University.

Others who were replaced are Deputy Inspector General of Police Samuel Arachi (Administration Police) and Joel Kitili (National Police Service).

Kitili was appointed the D.I.G in September 2015. He replaced Grace Kaindi who was appointed an ambassador.

He is also a former Rift Valley regional coordinator, Presidential Escort Commandant, former head of the national armoury.

He also served as a GSU commandant for one year.

Arachi has held the position of DIG (Administration Police) since 2013. He is a holds a masters degree in International Relations, a bachelor’s degree in Arts and a postgraduate diploma in International Relations, all from the University of Nairobi.

His profile according to the National Police Service Commission reads that Arachi “holds a masters degree in International Relations, a bachelor’s degree in Arts and a postgraduate diploma in International Relations, all from the University of Nairobi.”

The three have been redeployed to the Public Service Commission awaiting to be appointed for another job.
