Kalonzo facing a storm for nominating son, Kennedy Musyoka to East African Legislative Assembly

Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is in the eye of a storm after sections of MPs allied to his party ganged up on him.

The MPs expressed discontentment with Kalonzo’s move to nominate his eldest son, Kennedy Musyoka to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

They joined forces with Wiper rebels who joined Jubilee and have since vowed to oppose the ratification of young Musyoka to join EALA.

Mwingi North MP John Munuve has vowed to attend committee sittings to ensure that he opposes the appointment of Musyoka to EALA.

He said the position should have been given to somebody else but not his son as he has served in high ranking public offices in the past.

“I will attend the committee sittings to oppose this appointment,” said Munuve adding, “Wiper should have nominated another person because Kenyans have rewarded his father with high ranking public offices.

Another MP allied to Wiper, Kisoi Munyau (Mbooni MP) noted that the position should have been given to another person within Wiper as a show of loyalty but not to his son.

“This position should have gone to one of the countless supporters who have stood with Kalonzo throughout his career as a reward for loyalty,” observed Munyau.

Appointment of Musyoka to EALA by his dad is likely to open a fresh row of controversy for the party as Jubilee MPs will possibly feel that Wiper’s nomination of Musyoka is built on self interest by his father.

His nomination seeks to replace outgoing Peter Mathuki who has been serving at the Assembly. Mathuki is vying for Machakos governorship.
