Voting underway in repeat presidential election

Voters in Kirinyaga County undeterred by long lines and morning rain.

Kenyans from various parts of the country were up early to vote in the highly disputed repeat presidential election.

NASA leader Raila Odinga, who boycotted the poll, yesterday urged his supporters to remain at home and not to vote.

Some NASA stronghold areas have seen a few isolated events of protests as NASA supporters blocked IEBC officials from accessing the polling stations.

In Changamwe, Mombasa, a few anti-election protesters took to the streets lighting bonfires on the roads.

Most parts of the country have started voting without any hitch, but heavy police presence manning the stations has been reported.
