Ruto’s fiery message to, Raila, NASA supporters

Deputy President William Ruto has warned NASA supporters who engaged in criminal activities on Friday that they will be brought to book.

The DP said police have a duty to ensure the lives and property of Kenyans is safe at all times.

And, he added, police should act with speed and arrest those who looted and destroyed people’s property on Friday when Raila Odinga returned to the country from his 10-day visit in the US.

Ruto told a congregation at St Mark’s ACK, Mukui Parish in Kabete Constituency on Sunday that every Kenyan has a right to live anywhere in the country and do business irrespective of his political affiliation or tribe.

“Every Kenyan has a right to live anywhere in Kenya without intimidation,” Ruto stated.

“We ask police to ensure there is no life lost or property destroyed.”

He was speaking in response to great hue and cry from scores of traders and business owners in Nairobi who had their property destroyed by rogue NASA supporters on Friday.

Earlier, in a tweet, Ruto castigated Raila for the violence and termed him “a master of violence”.

“The lord of POVERTY & master of VIOLENCE came with his signature chaos, destruction, bloodshed and death. Barbaric, undemocratic & primitive,” he tweeted.

The DP also warned politicians against inciting their supporters.

He said they will be arrested and face the full wrath of the law.

“Nobody is above the law and action will be taken against those inciting Kenyans to violence irrespective of social status, political party or where one comes from,” The DP said.

“All Kenyans must respect the law and abide by the Constitution. Violence, anarchy or chaos will not earn any leader any position in this country.”
