Baringo Senator and Kanu Party chairman Gideon Moi has hinted at possible support in his 2022 Presidential ambition from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Gideon in a statement regarding his 2022 ambition, he said Uhuru knows what to do when the time comes.

“Mr. Kenyatta knows what he will do when time comes,” he told Nairobi News.

Gideon spoke yesterday at Rongai during the homecoming ceremony of his elder brother Raymond Moi who is the area’s MP.

This is likely to re-ignite the political animosity between him and the Deputy President William Ruto who is poised to succeed Uhuru in 2022.

Before August 8 polls, the DP and the Senator could not see eye to eye; all was premised on political supremacy battle in the Rift Valley.

Ruto at one point lectured Gideon telling him that they once supported his father, retired President Daniel Moi and it is time for him to support other people.

Uhuru has on several occasions, publicly stated that he will back Ruto’s 2022 candidature.

In Jubilee Party campaigns before and after August polls, Uhuru in different rallies within Rift Valley told masses that he would keep of his promise of backing Ruto for the Presidency in 2022.

Ruto enjoys massive support in his Rift valley backyard.

However, even with this on the fore, Gideon maintained that he enjoys a good relationship with the President.

“I assure you I don’t have any problem with the President,” he said.

Gideon also steered clear of Uhuru’s recent Cabinet appointments which has raised temperatures within his party where several quarters feel disgruntled.

Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat said Ruto influenced the appointment of Cabinet nominees with an ulterior motive to safeguard his 2022 presidential ambition.

“I cannot understand why Kanu was left in the cold,” Salat said.

Asked about it, Gideon responded by saying that the President should be given a chance to do what he is required to do.

“Let us give him space because currently, he has a lot of issues. We should support him.”
