Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua is firmly in the 2022 State House race after a case challenging his victory as the Governor was dismissed by the Machakos High Court on Friday.

He said he is optimistic he will be Kenya’s fifth President now that he is serving his second and last term as Machakos Governor.

“I am happy, really happy, today is a declaration that the journey to Statehouse is on and in 2022 I will vie and by God’s Grace I will win to become the 5th President of Kenya,” he told elated supporters outside the court according to the Star.

Dr. Mutua said he is ready to give Kenyans new leadership void of ethnicity and other ills that have dogged past regimes.

“To Kenyans, the time for fresh leadership that is not tribal, clean, visionary, creative, energetic and with a new way of doing things is here with us. I am ready to serve you,” said he adding that he is ready to work with his competitor Wavinya Ndeti.

Ndeti had filed a case challenging Mutua’s win in the August 8 polls. However, Machakos High Court Judge Justice Aggrey Muchelule in his ruling said the case lacks merit because Ndeti to prove to the court that Mutua rigged the polls.

“I find that the case was not proved beyond doubt… the allegations are not established and lack merit…The elections were free and fair,” the Judge said in his ruling.
