Government has spoken on NASA’s planned parallel swearing-in ceremony for their leader Raila Odinga as the fifth “President”.

Yesterday, Government Spokesperson Eric Kiraithe said NASA’s plan does not worry them at all.

He said everything is working out right for Jubilee’s plan to have President Uhuru Kenyatta sworn-in on Tuesday.

But, he said, NASA should hold their event in private. This way, he stated, it will not bother the government.

“The question of a person congregating his friends to swear him in is not an issue and has no legal concern,” said the Government Spokesperson.

NASA leadership insists Raila should be in office as he won in the August 8 polls.

Earlier, NASA lead counsel and Siaya Senator James Orengo had asked the IEBC to open its servers in a bid to show Kenyans that Raila won in the August 8 polls.

He said they will swear him in on the day Uhuru will be sworn-in.

Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama on Monday told the Star that plans for Raila’s swearing –in are at an advanced stage.

“We are going ahead with the swearing-in, as planned,” he said.

However, Kiraithe said: “If they held it somewhere without interfering with the rights of other people, then the government would not even be concerned.”

President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta will be sworn-in on Tuesday at the Kasarani Stadium in a fete set to be attended by a host of world leaders.

Former US President Barrack Obama and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres are among high-flying dignitaries who have been invited for the fete.
