Jubilee Parliamentarians have rejected President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nomination of three legislators to the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).

On Wednesday, the President nominated Beth Mugo, Adan Keynan and Dr Naomi Shaban to PSC.

In their argument, reports the Standard, the lawmakers said both Mugo and Keynan cannot represent their interests in the Commission because they sat in it during the last Parliament and did “nothing”.

Also, they were opposed to Shaban taking the Commission’s membership arguing that she was the Deputy Majority Leader in the last Parliament.

The legislators will table a rejection motion later.

In a meeting held at State House for all Jubilee MPs, Chairs of various House committees were picked.

Those nominated to head various Parliamentary Committees include: Sabina Chege (Health), Rachael Nyamai (Lands), William Cheptumo (Justice and Legal Affairs), Ali Wario (Labour), Kanini Kega (Energy), Katoo Ole Metito (Defense), Paul Koinange (Security) David Pkosing (Transport) Jeremiah Kioni (Cohesion) Joseph Limo (Finance), Kimani Ichung’wa (Budget), Gladys Shollei (Delegated Legislation) and  Kareke Mbiuki (Environment).

Once again, the lawmakers allied to the ruling coalition grumbled about the nomination of Chairpersons saying majority were picked from Jubilee strongholds of Central and Rift Valley.

It is reportedly said that the lawmakers during the meeting with the President at State House strongly dissented the nomination of the members of PSC and House Chairpersons saying they should be able to elect them independently as is tradition.
