Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Wednesday said that Kenya has begun flattening the curve in regard to COVID-19 infections in the country.
He said that for the last few days, the recorded numbers of COVID-19 cases have gone down which is a good sign.
However, the Kagwe warned that this is a loophole that could see Kenya battle as second wave of coronavirus.
Kagwe called on Kenyans to maintain the health safety standards set by the Ministry of Health in order to avoid the eventuality of a second spike in the number of coronavirus cases.
He also announced that 130 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of cases to 37, 348.
Kagwe said that 3,874 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
Of the total cases recorded on Wednesday, 123 are Kenyans and seven are foreigners. The youngest case is a three-year-old kid and the oldest is aged 90.
Another 106 patients were discharged with 25 from home-based programme and 81 from hospitals around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 24,253.
Sadly, five patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 664.
