Kenya on Friday recorded 866 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the tally to 87,249.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said a sample size of 7,815 was tested in the last 24 hours. The country now has a positivity rate of 11 per cent.
The cumulative tests stand at 919,411.
From the new cases reported on Friday, 828 are Kenyans while 38 are foreigners. 525 are male while 341 are femalea and the youngest is a three-month-old infant while the oldest is 100.
Another 322 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 259 were from the home-based care programme while 63 were discharged from various health facilities.
The total recoveries now stand at 68,110.
The death toll rose 1,506 after another six patents succumbed to the virus.
Kagwe said that there are 1,194 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 7,984 patients are on the home-based care programme.
A total of 77 patients are in ICU, out of which 31 are on ventilatory support.
Also, 67 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 57 are in general wards and 10 in the HDU.
Nairobi led with 273, Mombasa 78, Nakuru 73, Kiambu 55, Kirinyaga 49 and Nyamira 35.
