A Jubilee nominated Member of Kiambu County Assembly (MCA) Yvonne Waweru resigned from the position on Tuesday to follow her dream in the private sector.

Waweru said that she will serve until January 15, 2021 and take her leave.

She said that she was going back to her career in the private sector. Waweru will be heading to ocean governance.

“I write this post to inform you that I will cease to be a specially-elected MCA effective from the 15th of January 2021.

“I intend to go back to my profession in ocean governance in the Western Indian Ocean region which will not allow me to participate in politics and will hopefully allow me to serve my country in a different capacity,” she said.

The Western Indian Ocean region comprises 10 countries – Comoros, France, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa and Tanzania.

This region has five mainland continental states, four small island nations and Madagascar which has both the mainland and small island features.

Waweru thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for giving her an opportunity to serve in his backyard courtesy of Jubilee Party.

She said that even as she quits politics, she is happy that she has managed to leave a mark of change in her community, specifically for residents of Kabete where she hails from.

Waweru talked of legislative frameworks which she helped craft for the betterment of service delivery in Kiambu County.
