For one young mother from Limuru who delivered triplets at Kenyatta National Hospital slightly over a month ago, she is testament life is full of surprises.

It all started when the online community, majority drawn from Kiambu County decided to come together and end her plight.

Robert Githire is the man Monicah Wamaitha-a single mother with triplets, will live to thank.

Githire, best described as a philanthropist, says he was contacted a month ago by a Facebook acquaintance and was informed of Wamaitha’s plight who was at the time stuck at KNH.

“I was contacted by a Facebook friend when the triplets and the mother were still at KNH. I assisted in clearing the hospital bill. I then mobilized some friends to visit them at home. We were able to donate bedding, NHIF cover, foodstuff, powder milk among other things,” he remarks during an interview with Jamhuri News.

It is during their visit at Wamaitha’s home in Nguirubi village, Limuru that they realized she had a bigger problem.

Together with her triplets-and another of Wamaitha’s kids-she was sharing one room with her aging mother and grandmother who is 90 years old. This is when the initiative dubbed “Tujengee Triplets Nyumba on Easter Monday” was hatched and an online fundraiser kicked off to build Wamaitha a new home.

“While at the home, we realized the triplets mother was sharing a house with her mother and grandmother. The idea of building a two-roomed house for her came up,” he offers.

Githire got in touch with masons and got a breakdown budget of each and every item to be used in building the house which totaled to Sh60, 000. He later shared it on social media and appealed for help from well-wishers.

“We have been mobilizing friends of social media and we have met our target.”

Early Monday morning, about 80 volunteers turned up for the noble course at Wamaitha’s home.

Kiambu County leaders led by Limuru MP Peter Mwathi, Senator Kimani Wamatangi and Women Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba were well represented at the charity event. Politician-cum-counseling psychologist Gladys Chania also attended the event.

Wamaitha was joyous and could not thank enough those who answered her call for help.

“I am really humbled because I have realized that unity of purpose is something that can take us far. My life has changed in a big way and my prayer is that may God bless all those who contributed towards giving me a new life together with my kids.”
