Just a day after taking oath of office, new Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney is embroiled in a land tussle.

The piece of land under dispute measures 50 acres. It is situated in Nandi.

Yesterday, a contingent of heavily armed policemen was deployed to the property where fencing is ongoing with approval of the court.

Karoney’s land impasse pits her against the Nandi County Government which claims 34 acres of the riparian land in Sironoy swamp.

The CSs lawyer only identified as Tanui said she bought the land.

“The county will defer the matter until Monday where the lands office will map out its property and also conduct a new fencing exercise,” said the lawyer as quoted by the Standard.

The land under dispute is adjacent to Karoney’s mansion which is still under construction.

A copy of the Court Order seen by the Standard showed that the dispute of the land was between the CS and her three brothers namely lands CS and three brothers Barnaba, Amos and William Korir.
