Lawyers representing President Uhuru Kenyatta are ready to argue their case in court in a petition challenging his victory in the August 8 polls.

Led by city lawyer Ahmednasir Abdulahi, they said they are ready to have the case start on Sunday or Monday.

Ahmednasir said they are confident of their responses and have no worries.

“We are confident about the answers we give; we are bullish about everything we have done. And let the case start. We are ready,” he said at the Supreme Court Thursday night after filing the President’s response.

He was accompanied by lawyers Katwa Kigen, Tom Macharia and Evans Monari.

Uhuru, the IEBC and its Chair Wafula Chebukati are respondents to the election petition filed by NASA.

In the August 8 polls Uhuru emerged winner with more than a difference of more than 1.4 votes.

NASA’s Raila Odinga disputed the election results saying there was massive irregularity which accorded Uhuru an undeserved win.

Raila said Uhuru and his running mate Deputy President William Ruto are “computer-generated” leaders.

A pre-trial conference will be held on Saturday before the case goes full throttle for the next 14 days.

Going by the Constitution, the seven-Judge bench led by Chief Justice David who will be hearing the Presidential petition should make a ruling on September 1.
