Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’I has rapped a section of international media for creating false impression of violence in the country.

In statement to newsrooms on Thursday, the CS noted there are some international media houses using fake violence photos to taint Kenya’s image as a war zone.

“We take offence from accredited international media houses who have chosen to mislead the public by using images and video clips from 2007,” he stated as the Star quotes.

“We continue to urge the media to seek clarification and verification from authorities before publishing any security related information so as not to cause undue alarm and tension in the country.”

The CS said she has directed all private security firms, international agencies or any other outfit issuing statements on Kenya’s state of security to seek authorization from his ministry first before placing the information on public domain.

Though there has been protest in Kisumu and Mathare areas, the violence has been contained by police.

Chaos broke out on Wednesday after NASA Presidential candidate Raila Odinga allayed fears of being rigged out by Jubilee in a plot where IEBC systems were allegedly hacked.
