My Life in Crime series by John Kiriamiti to air soon on local TV station

Kenya’s all time best-selling novels; My Life in Crime and its continuation My Life with a Criminal: Milly’s Story are set to hit the screens soon.

The two novels were written by John Kiriamiti.

The author wrote the manuscript while serving a jail sentence at the Naivasha Maximum Security Prison.

The book’s first release was in 1984.

AfreDev, A Kenyan TV Production Company has transferred the TV rights of the two hit Kenyan novels for a TV series that will show on a local TV station beginning June next year.

Ramadhan Nungu of AfreDev, reports Daily Nation revealed filming for the first season is already over.

Kiriamiti said the TV series projecting visuals of his written work will give Kenyans another opportunity to enjoy his work.

“This is an opportunity for my fans to enjoy my work all over again,” said the author.

Ramahdan cited that they in their filming, they have remained as original as possible.

For example, in My Life In Crime, there is a scene where Kirimiti narrates his goings on in Congo.

This scene for the TV series has been shot in Congo. “But if a scene is in, say, Congo, we shoot in Congo. We have kept it as real as possible.”

The story of the legendary Kiriamiti begins at 15 years of age when he first got to Nairobi after stealing sh600 from his father’s jacket.

Life after then as coated by high-end heists including robbing banks in the city and its environs.

He was nabbed 6 years later at age 21, in 1971. He was sent to prison where he spent over two decades.
