You may start using your Huduma card very soon as the government released a populated list of collection centres where Kenyans will pick this document from.

This comes after the government kicked off the issuance of the card early February.

However, only 300,000 people out of 2.2 million Kenyans who were alerted on where to pick the Huduma card have responded.

“2.2 million messages have been sent to different cardholders, it is sad that up to now only 300,000 have responded to the text messages. We would like to urge those who have received the messages to provide the requested information and subsequently pick the cards,” Government Spokesperson Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna said in a statement last week.

The messaging model includes a first message sent by Huduma Secretariat asking the respondent where they would like to collect the card from. The second message is followed by a confirmation of pick up based on your selection in the first option.

“The public is informed that Huduma Number cards collection points are open over the weekends that is Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 4pm,” the statement added.

Already, the government has mapped out all collection centres in Nairobi.

Kenyans were also warned about fraudsters claiming to distribute the huduma Namaba cards for a fee.

So far, 38 million Kenyans were registered in 2019. A second registration drive is scheduled for 2021 to ensure that all Kenyans are registered before December 2021 when the use of the national identity cards will be nullified.

It will be mandatory for any Kenyan of age 18 and above to have a Huduma Namba card while children aged six years will be issued with a minor’s Huduma Namba.

the government will use the information collected to dispense services to those who are eligible.

Those who will miss out will have hard times seeking government services as well as some basic services such as sim card registration or passport application.

“Any government agency requiring personal particulars of an individual shall, at the first instance, rely on the NIIMS database to authenticate the foundational data of an enrolled resident individual,” a notice by the government indicated.

“For the purpose of establishing proof of identity, the presentation of the Huduma card or the Huduma Namba authenticated by biometrics constitutes sufficient proof.”

Huduma Namba captured your NHIF, NSSF and KRA PIN details.
