President Uhuru announces free secondary education

BY Jamhuri News Reporter

Jubilee principals President Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto toured the coast in a vote-hunting bid on Wednesday.

The president announced that the government will soon be rolling out free secondary school education starting in January 2018.

The free program is set to cater for students in all public schools around the country.

“We want to ensure free education from Standard One to Form Four from January next year. The government has set aside Sh5 billion to refurbish secondary schools. From January no child will pay fees,” said the President speaking in Lamu.

The president also lifted the ban on fishing during nighttime, and night curfew in parts of Lamu. The ban was imposed five years ago following increased insecurity at the border caused by Al-Shabaab.

The head of state told Coast residents that his government had accomplished the promises it made to them, and further pleaded with them to vote for him in the upcoming August 8 polls.
Deputy President William Ruto urged coast residents to be careful in the choice they make about the leadership they want.
“On August 8, Kenyans will select Jubilee or propaganda and fake promises. You should not joke with your votes,” he said.
