Protesting near and around police stations will be treated as firearm theft – Inspector General Boinnet

Inspector General Joseph Boinnet warned demonstrators of protesting near and around police stations. He said that such protests will be treated as possible attempts to steal firearms.

“This will be taken as violation of the law and will elicit appropriate response,” he said through spokesperson George Kinoti on Friday.

His statement came the same day when three people were shot dead during NASA demonstrations as they stormed the Bondo police station.

According to County Commissioner Josephine Onunga, 20 youths had attempted to take over Bondo police station and officers were left with no option but to open fire to keep the youth at bay.

In some areas like Siaya town and Ugunja, protestors obeyed the law and maintained order. The demos in these areas were led by Governor Cornel Rasanga and Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi.
