A closely guarded secret deal between Kanu led by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and President Uhuru Kenyatta has caused jitters with DP William Ruto who has a frosty relationship with Moi.

Ruto and Moi are bitter political rivals. They have engaged in public banters more than once. Their rivalry is premised on who is the political kingpin in Rift Valley.

And the feud is once again, being stoked by a secret deal between Moi and Uhuru.

The deal involves having 6 people from KANU placed in top echelons of Jubilee administration during its second term.

According to Daily Nation, KANU has presented with six names, two of which should be appointed for cabinet slots and the other four; named as Principal Secretaries.

KANU’s Secretary-General Nick Salat the chairman of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Kiprono Kittony have been proposed by KANU for Cabinet posts.

Insiders within Jubilee Party intimate that KANU’s slots in government were discussed last month. In fact, the President visited retired President Daniel Moi on the eve of Supreme Court ruling which upheld his victory in the repeat presidential elections.

Salat last week said they supported Jubilee’s re-election which calls for them to be included in government.

“We have our MPs who have contributed to Jubilee’s majority in Parliament. So outside Parliament, we would want to be included in government.”

He also confirmed that the party had forwarded names of their members they want appointed in the cabinet and other postings.

“It is the President’s prerogative to appoint them to whichever positions, be it CS, PS, parastatal heads and others. We have not been given a specific allocation,” averred Salat.

Ruto’s protégées are reportedly said to be disgruntled with this move. They feel the Senator is worming-up to Jubilee with an ulterior motive.

Moi has expressed his candidature in the 2022 Presidential race-a sign the feud between him and the Dp is not ending anytime soon.

“What were they trying to show us? Weren’t there enough senior government functionaries to receive visiting heads of state,” posed on of the DP’s lieutenants.

Parliament and Senate Majority Leaders Aden Duale and Kipchumba Murkomen respectively remained tight-lipped on the matter, indicative the issue is weighty and drawing heat for the ruling coalition.
