Popular actor, Joseph Kinuthia commonly known as Omosh of Tahidi High, has opened up about his long battle with alcohol addiction.

Omosh, a father of four said that the addiction was so strong that at one point, he could not function without a drink.

“Let’s just say I really consumed a lot of alcohol over the past 20 years. I could not function without alcohol in my system. I remember at times I had to hide from my colleagues to take a sip or tot to be able to function,” he revealed during an interview with a local media outlet.

The addiction was so strong that even in his acting career, he could get off the stage to get a sip.

“I could get off stage during a show, or even find an excuse to leave home so that I can take a drink,” he added.

He said he quit drinking because the habit was draining him financially to a point he was unable to meet his family’s needs.

Omosh has over the years been a popular face in Tahidi High-a school drama- where he is depicted as an errant grounds man.

In the TV drama, he stands out among many with his deep mastery of “sheng”.

He is among highly regarded personalities who have opened up about their battle with alcoholism.

Nana, who is the Managing Director for Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) said she would imbibe a whole crate of beer.

For the last nineteen years, she has not touched alcohol, she said.
