Three Kenyans arrested in Georgia over alleged murder at a petrol station

Three Kenyans living in the U.S have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 25-year old man and a father of three two weeks ago at Cobb County, Georgia.

Daniel Perez, was shot in the head by two men on March 23. He was in the front seat of his pick-up truck when two men approached him and one of them shot him.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, police on Sunday arrested Devin Thomas (20), M. Mungai (18.) The third Kenyan suspect C. Kariuki had been arrested earlier.

Kariuki, according to an arrest warrant issued, is reportedly said to have bought the murder weapon, a 38-caliber handgun and later sold it to the suspect who shot Perez-an unidentified 15-year old who is also in police custody.

Kariuki is also said to have driven the other suspects to the scene of the crime while Maria is charged with helping the suspects escape and hide after the shooting.

The three suspects are being held at Cobb County jail without bail according to records at the facility.

Following the shooting incident, Perez was rushed to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he was declared ‘brain dead’.

Lucia Gonzalez, Perez’s sister-in-law told a local news channel that Perez was taking his brother for a job interview on that fateful morning.

“It’s just sad because he was just taking his brother to a job interview literally that morning,” said Gonzalez.

Acworth Police confirmed he was taken off life support machine and died on March 23.

His family said he had just purchased the truck for his landscaping business. One week before his tragic shooting, he had attended his one-year-old son’s baptism.
