Uganda’s opposition leader Kiiza Besigye is among East African vocal voices who may have endorsed Raila Odinga as the People’s President.

Raila was self-inaugurated on Tuesday last week in a fete graced by thousands of his supporters.

He said that he has taken his people to the promised land of Canaan after taking the oath that has further strained his relationship with Jubilee regime.

Besigye in a tweet soon after the unofficial swearing-in praised Raila for his stand in “restoring electoral justice” in Kenya.

“No one can doubt that these people have their president-People’s President! A result of election results that aren’t believable. Making the point an important part of the struggle for democratic transition…,” read part of the tweet.

Besigye’s wife 59-year old Winnie Byanyima-an aeronautical engineer recently moved to Nairobi as a permanent resident from the UK where she has been living.

She is an executive director for Oxfam international. The organization has shifted its African operations from Europe to Nairobi.

On January 30, she wrote on her official twitter handle: “Finally, I’m in my new home#Nairobi. The first neighbor 2reach out 2 me (sic). But I’, mot sure I want him visiting me at all. Must keep windows closed & watch out for his unannounced drop-ins! I really look fwd 2 being part of the vibrant, diverse & courageous civil society here (sic).”

Besigye has stirred political waters in Uganda where he proclaims himself as the People’s President. However, Yoweri Museveni is the democratically elected President and is legally recognized by the international community.
