The die is finally cast as Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu sacked the county’s Water CEC John Mugwe who was on a 30-days suspension.

Waititu fired Mugwe on grounds that he has failed to discharge his roles.

“I have observed that you are neither keen on delivering on your responsibilities nor making service delivery to the people of Kiambu your immediate focus,” the dismissal letter seen by Jamhuri News reads.

It added: “You are also not a good team player hence affecting the overall performance of your responsibilities and that of the county government as a whole.

Therefore, within the powers set out in Section 31(a) of the County Government Act, 2012, I hereby relieve you of your responsibilities as a CEC and from any other portfolio which you may be holding.”

He asked Mugwe to prepare a handover report which will be presented to the county secretary.

Mugwe was touted to be one Kiambu’s most visible CECs in Waititu’s administration given his outstanding record in the Roads and Public works docket which he started off in before he was moved to the water docket before he was suspended.

The Governor had earlier in April during a church function in Kabete expressed discomfort with Mugwe’s strong social media presence.

“If your work is taking pictures and posting them on Facebook and WhatsApp, then we shall not allow that,” the Kiambu Governor said at the time.
