Seventeen people are feared dead after a building under construction in Kapsabet caved in Thursday afternoon.
The three-storey building- a hospital according to reports is located along Kapsabet-Kisumu highway.
At the time of its collapse, more than sixty people were working on its construction.
The cause of its collapse has not been established yet.
Pius Maasai of the National Disaster Management said they are already on site and will communicate the cause of the collapse.
On Thursday, efforts to rescue those trapped in the rubble proved to be a herculean task due to lack of equipment and heavy rains pounding the area.
An excavator came in to help with the operations.
Reports indicate construction at the site started four months ago.
